INT. MARTIN'S HOUSE, BEDROOM - NIGHT
MARTIN (10) and JOSEPH (10) are wrapped up in the bed duvet, lying on their backs, one with one head on the right pillow, the other on the left pillow. Their eyes are open and they stare into the darkness of the room. Outside the window a strong wind is blowing that doesn't let them sleep, thunder in the distance heralds a storm.
MARTIN
They let my sister choose the room
because she's older,
and this one went to me.
JOSEPH
Did you want the other one?
MARTIN
It is bigger, but this one has a
more beautiful story.
JOSEPH
What story?

The two children turn to face each other.

MARTIN
The lady who sold it to us
said that a ghost lives here.

JOSEPH
A ghost?
MARTIN
Yes. A child like us.
At night he wanders around the house
and makes noises.

JOSEPH
What noises?
MARTIN
You can hear him creak on the wardrobe doors.
Then he starts tapping on the window.
Sometimes he tickles your feet.

JOSEPH
You can hear him?

MARTIN
If you stay silent.

They fall silent. The rain begins to beat on the closed shutters.

JOSEPH
Did you hear that?
MARTIN
I told you.
JOSEPH
Are not you scared?
MARTIN
No. He just wants to play.

Something creaks in the room. Joseph moves closer to Martin.

MARTIN
Let's go to sleep. Good night.

JOSEPH
...Good night.

The rain gets heavier, lightning lights up the room. Martin turns his back to Giuseppe, who remains motionless.
After minutes of insomnia, something tickles Joseph's foot. Frightened, he yells and sits up. Martin bursts into laughter.
JOSEPH
Idiot.

Joseph lays down again. Martin approaches and rests his head on the same pillow as Joseph, and embraces him to calm him down.
